Career Essentials: It’s All About Your Plan and Your Brand: provides talent in all areas of screen-based media with practical ways to evaluate their skills, help them determine and articulate short-, mid-, and long-term goals, and begin establishing their personal brand, be it for staff or freelance jobs. Then, we build on the goals process by reviewing best practices for all marketing tools required including:  CV/resume, bio, references, social media profiles and internet presence, cover emails/letters, business cards, work samples and email signatures. We look at ways to help job seekers “position” and “package” themselves to their best advantage, give them practical tips on effective networking, we address any skills shortages or experience gaps they may have, and teach participants how to continuously build their brand and their “pitch” to better support their professional goals.

Career Activism: How to Access the Hidden Job Market: This seminar is designed to teach participants how to properly research and access the “hidden job market”. We teach participants how to target companies properly, how to match their skills to a given business unit and company mandate, how to effectively approach hiring managers for consideration on their team, and how to make a strong business case for their candidacy. We’ll show them easy, practical ways to chart an effective job search, develop job leads through their professional networks, and most importantly, they will learn how to assess if they have what it takes to be shortlisted for a given job. Finally, we’ll give participants some practical direction on how to call, email and follow-up properly on job leads, and how to get in front of the right decision-maker, at the right time, for the right reasons.

Mastering the Interview:  Are your interview skills ready to be put to the test? It pays to prepare! This presentation is designed to help job seekers prepare to compete more strongly than their peers. Candidates are taught how to conduct thorough research for critical interviews, and are shown what to expect during the first and second round interview processes. We teach candidates how to build a “business case” for their candidacy and “make and justify their ask” to ensure the employers clearly know why they would be the best candidate for the job. Finally, job seekers are taught how to wrap up and take control of next steps and follow-ups, so as not to make any last minute blunders and lose an opportunity. This seminar will introduce best practices to truly stand out in the interview process, to properly manage follow-ups, and to lead you towards receiving the offer.

Negotiating Your Salary: Salary negotiation can be daunting — but when you know your value and do your research, you can be much more successful in getting what you want. This seminar is designed to help candidates determine “fair market value” for a given position, and to approach negotiating confidently with the process in perspective, and with realistic expectations. We teach candidates to establish their objectives, assess their personal style, and to conduct the compensation conversation in a practical way. We help individuals determine their baseline salaries and/or rates and deal points, and teach them how to justify their “ask”. Finally, we teach candidates to close the deal, and make a positioning statement for leaving the former employer, and an entry strategy to ensure success in the new job!
