You'll find the perfect "10" candidate ~ Strong candidates typically bring between 80-90%of the hard and soft skills required.
Personality tests can be effective ... and time consuming. Strong diligence around planning, screening and referencing should create a good fit.
Employees are expected to consistently work long hours ~ direct reports should keep an eye on overloaded job specs, and reward them accordingly.
Candidates who are serious about a given opportunity won't mind a protracted process ~ It can be logistically and emotionally arduous for candidates to deal with lengthy hires. The market is hungry for qualified talent - don't take too long to hire!
Candidates are expected to know how to negotiate compensation packages ~ Candidates very often over and undervalue salary expectations for many reasons. Fair market value is not something that is widely shared or understood in our industry.
Interviewing is easy and simple ~ Hiring managers don't always have the human resources expertise to manage a thorough hiring process.
Past performance predicts future performance ~ all individuals grow and develop through the course of their careers. Some suffer unfortunate circumstances that were beyond their competency or authority to change in prior positions. A good hiring manager will address past issues and have a performance plan going forward in order to provide a new opportunity for success for all.
